Prepare the master
Export the final mix as an uncompressed WAV file — the standard is 24-bit / 48kHz. Listen to the file all the way through, from beginning to end, on headphones and on a phone speaker. Check the start and the end for clicks, and don't leave extra silence at either end.
Cover art that passes review
Your cover art travels with the release to every store. The spec is 3000×3000 pixels, RGB. Keep text minimal and readable at thumbnail size, and avoid platform logos, account handles, prices and links — stores reject cover art that carries them.
Metadata and codes
Metadata is how the world finds you: an artist name spelled the same way on every release, the real title with no decoration, and the correct language and genre tags. The codes — ISRC for the recording and UPC for the release — are assigned during preparation; you don't need to buy them anywhere.
Choose the release date
Give yourself room. A date several weeks out leaves space for review, delivery and pitching before day one. Line the date up with anything you control — a video, a show, a run of posts — so the release lands with support behind it rather than alone.
Request your invite
Mazufa works by invitation only. Completed applications enter a human review queue as capacity allows. Submitting does not create an account; those accepted may receive a dedicated preparation invite.
After acceptance
After preparation, your release is packaged to spec and delivered to every platform, and its data is pitched to the appropriate editorial and algorithmic surfaces. From there, watch your dashboard: streams, saves and playlist adds, per platform and per country.
The fingerprint code every recording carries — it tracks streams and earnings worldwide.
Your release barcode — one per single, EP or album.
Digital service provider — Spotify, Apple Music, Anghami and every store on earth.
Why do artists think about leaving another distributor?
Another distributor was one of the first digital distribution platforms, but the paid annual subscription model means you pay a fixed fee for every album or song regardless of your actual income. When you are at the start of your career or releasing large numbers of releases, these fees add up and eat into part of your earnings. Mazufa works on a different model: the fees and deductions set out in the offer and the agreement, and distribution — meaning every riyal you earn stays in your pocket.
Before you start: watch out for this common mistake
The most common mistake is deleting your old distribution first and then re-uploading, which makes your songs temporarily disappear from the platforms and costs you the playlists you have built up. The correct order is exactly the opposite: upload first, then delete.
Step one: document everything you have with the other distributor
Before any practical step, gather this information from your current account:
- A list of every release (albums, singles, EPs) with the original release dates.
- The ISRC codes for each track — you will find them in each song's details.
- The UPC code for each album or release.
- The list of platforms you are currently distributed to.
- Your accumulated, untransferred balance — make sure to withdraw it before cancelling the subscription.
Save this data in a single file; you will need it later to confirm that the new release matches the old one in the platforms' databases.
Step two: submit a request to move your catalog to Mazufa
Submit the catalog data for review. Do not upload or delete any release before the offer is accepted, the agreement is signed by both parties and in force, and the migration plan approved. When it is carried out:
- Use the same ISRC codes you recorded earlier; this preserves the streaming stats attached to the song.
- Enter the original release date and not today's date, so the song does not appear as a new release to the algorithms.
- Make sure the audio files and cover art are to the same specifications as what you uploaded before, or better.
- Select at least the same platforms you were distributed to before.
Step three: wait for confirmation before deleting
Once the agreement is in force and the migration plan carried out, wait for confirmation from each destination before any deletion at the previous distributor. Timing and acceptance vary by platform and no timing is guaranteed. Do not rush and delete the old releases before this point.
Step four: delete your releases from the other distributor
Once you have confirmed your releases have arrived through Mazufa, you can delete the releases at the other distributor or take them out of distribution. In each release's settings, look for a “Remove from stores” option or its equivalent. Note that deletion can take days to be applied across all platforms, and there may be a short overlap between the two releases — this is normal.
Step five: stop the annual subscription
Once all your releases are deleted, cancel the annual subscription with the other distributor so you are not charged in the next billing cycle. Make sure to withdraw any remaining earnings in your account before closing it for good.
What happens to my earnings from the previous period?
Streaming earnings generated through your previous distributor remain yours and are paid out through it on its own schedule, even after you leave. Earnings from the date of the new distribution through Mazufa will reach you directly through the platform, according to the fees and deductions set out in the offer and the agreement.
Final tips to keep you out of trouble
- Do not change the artist name or the song title between the two releases; any difference may be treated as an entirely new release.
- Your audience will usually not notice any difference, so there is no need to tell them about the change unless you see a good reason to.
- Always keep a copy of your ISRC/UPC file — it is your property regardless of the distribution platform.
Moving from another distributor to Mazufa is not complicated if you follow the right order. The result: your earnings in full, uninterrupted distribution, and no annual fees piling up with every new release.
Start as an artist or as a label
Choose the artist or label track and submit your details for review. Uploading a release or delivering a catalogue does not begin before the offer is accepted and the contract is signed by both parties and in force.
