Artists working in India release film soundtrack repertoire, Punjabi pop, Hindi and regional-language independent music, devotional song, ghazal and Carnatic and Hindustani classical music. Recording happens mostly in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and English among many others, with titles written in Devanagari, Gurmukhi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and other scripts. Metadata then needs one fixed Latin transliteration of the artist name, a language tag matching what is sung, and the original script kept in an alternate title field.
The currency in use is Indian rupee (INR). Earnings are reported in the currency the platform pays out in rather than in each local currency, so the rate between reporting and withdrawal matters when planning. Most listening happens through streaming services, YouTube, short-video apps and radio. Which stores and platforms a release reaches in this territory varies and is subject to current availability, eligibility and platform rules. Checking territory settings before delivery avoids surprises after release.
